Peel Regional Police Operational Support Facility
Mass Timber for Resilient Infrastructure
The Peel Regional Police Operational Support Facility (OSF) is a state-of-the-art, five-storey administrative building designed to meet the growing demands of one of Canada’s most diverse regions - Peel, Ontario. Nestled within a mixed-use area, the facility will house critical services such as 911 communications, IT, records, road safety, and analytics, operating 24/7 to enhance public service delivery. Community-focused features include a publicly accessible community room for gatherings and presentations and community gardens, both indoor and outdoor. The facility features an iconic façade designed to maximize daylighting and targets zero carbon emissions, setting a benchmark for municipal infrastructure aligned with Peel’s long-term growth and sustainability goals.
Structure
The OSF will be built with a glulam post-and-beam timber superstructure supporting dowel-laminated timber (DLT) floor and roof panels, all designed to a 1-hr FRR with concealed connections. A reinforced concrete core and strategically placed steel bracing act as the lateral system. Structural steel Vierendeel trusses span 30 meters, creating expansive spaces over the gardens.
StructureCraft is honoured to engineer, prefabricate, and install the timber and steel superstructure, collaborating closely with DIALOG as the design architects and engineers, and Eastern Construction as the construction managers.
