Who We Are.
As Structural Engineers and Builders, we team up with world-renowned Architects, Developers, & GCs to engineer, fabricate and erect carefully detailed building and bridge structures in timber, steel, glass, concrete and other materials.
As both structural engineers and builders, we enjoy challenges which break new ground, and our extensive experience with wood has won numerous awards for innovation in timber engineering and construction.

History
For over 30+ years, StructureCraft has been pushing boundaries in timber structural engineering and construction.
In 1989 Gerald Epp leaves long span expert Geiger Engineers to join friend Paul Fast in creating what would become Fast+Epp Structural Engineers. They continue to service a broad variety of clientele, including budget-minded developers. Brought up a Mennonite with instilled frugality, this experience served to solidify in GE a disposition towards economy and efficiency which would drive future endeavours. Although still young, the dream was to apply technical know-how with practicality and common sense to create uncommon structures.
How StructureCraft was born.
In 1998, the first opportunity comes with the Vancouver Aquarium when architect Bing Thom with Gerald faces the reality that they can find no-one willing to build a unique timber-stainless steel hybrid structure they have designed, at least within budget. Gerald takes the next step and forms StructureCraft, thus becoming a builder as well as an engineer. A project in northern Washington, the Ferndale Middle School roof, with a space truss made of wood peeler cores, follows.
Awards
Over the past 20+ years, we’ve teamed up with innovative clients, working on ground-breaking projects that have won numerous awards for engineering innovation and quality from such distinguished bodies as the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) in the UK and the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).
Such projects include the large mass timber T3 Minneapolis office building in Minneapolis, MN; the unique WoodWave roof of the 2010 Olympic Speedskating Oval in Richmond, BC; the warped roof structure at VanDusen Gardens in Vancouver, BC; the Arena Stage Parallam-and-cable facade in Washington, DC; the “Footbridge of Dreams” in Princeton, BC; the Central City timber structures in Surrey, BC; the Bow River Pedestrian Bridge in Banff, AB; and the Tsingtao Pearl Visitors Centre in Qingdao, China.
