Overview

Bridge District Parcel 5 brings a 12-storey mass-timber structure above a concrete ground level and two below-grade parking levels to Washington, DC's Anacostia waterfront. The 310,000-square-foot mixed-use building will provide 272 apartments and ground-floor retail, with its timber frame exposed through many of the living spaces. StructureCraft is Structural Engineer of Record for the full building, including foundations, and is delivering design-build of the timber structure, working with Redbrick LMD, Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture, and DAVIS Construction to make a tall timber residential building practical at this scale.

Foundations

StructureCraft is Structural Engineer of Record for the building’s foundations as well as its superstructure. The timelapse follows excavation and below-grade concrete construction, including the developing slabs and walls.
