New Awards - Richmond Olympic Oval and Guildford Aquatic Addition

On November 10th, the Richmond Olympic Oval received a prestigious award - the All Time Award from the IAKS (International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities) and IOC (International Olympic Committee). The award was given to the Richmond Olympic Oval and to a few other facilities including the Berlin Olympic Stadium and Beijing National Stadium.

Several weeks ago, we were also honoured to receive the VRCA's Gold Award for the design-build of the roof structure for the new Guildford Aquatic Centre Addition. Designed by Bing Thom Architects and SHAPE Architecture, the roof structure is unique in its design and had a number of difficult fabrication, transportation, and erection challenges to overcome - particularly those surrounding the use of Glulam-LSL composite trusses in an aquatic center.

We are pleased to receive these awards as they showcase the feasibility of using wood in world-class structures, and the success of our design-build approach on each of the projects.
