Sycamore & Oak was conceived by Sir David Adjaye as well as the ownership group at Emerson Collective and Redbrick LMD. The pavilion now acts as a “retail activation” and community space for the larger mixed-use development in the East DC area.

The primary structure consists of prefabricated timber components, designed for future disassembly and relocation. The platform deck itself is an exposed mass timber walking surface, so the design paid close attention to durability and long-term maintenance.
