Sycamore & Oak

Sycamore and Oak was conceived by Sir David Adjaye as well as the ownership group at Emerson Collective and Redbrick LMD. The pavilion now acts as a “retail activation” and community space for the larger mixed-use development in the East DC area.

The primary structure is prefabricated timber components, designed for future dis-assembly and relocation. The platform deck itself is an exposed mass timber walking surface, thus much attention was taken to design for durability and long-term maintenance.
