Douglas Skylight Structure
Boomerang Truss Roof Structure
This hybrid-steel structure required detailed engineering analysis by StructureCraft in order to ensure its stability both during construction and in service.
We fabricated the "boomerang" glulams off-site, then assembled with steel rods and connections on site at ground level. Once the six trusses were erected onto the temporary platform, the rings and purlins were carefully installed to lock the complex structure into place.
Finally, the scaffolding was removed to enable the 20m-diameter structure to span the space and carry the skylight.
The piece will be a dramatic and expressive element in our completed building, and demonstrates Structurecraft’s ability to collaborate on what could become a landmark structural attraction. Thank you... best regards Franc D'Ambrosio
