Douglas Skylight Structure

This hybrid timber-and-steel structure required detailed engineering analysis by StructureCraft in order to ensure its stability both during construction and in service.

We fabricated the "boomerang" glulams off-site, then added the painted steel rods and connections on site at ground level to form 3 unique pairs of truss assemblies. Once the six trusses were erected onto the work platform, we installed and carefully adjusted the rings and purlins to lock the complex structure into place.

Finally, the temporary scaffolding was removed to enable the 20m (67') diameter structure to span the space and carry the skylight.
